Note sign in poster case explaining the renovation.
Welding truck outside of front of theatre.
There will be a smallish flyloft for the movie screen frame, assorted lighting fixtures, and backdrops. The backstage area is being expanded significantly to allow for dressing rooms and other facilities needed for live performances. The front of the stage will also be extended somewhat, and the overall seating capacity will be reduced to something over 400.
Portions of the auditorium ceiling have been removed to allow for lighting fixtures to be installed for live shows. The chandelier has been removed and is presently in storage; it is not likely to be reinstalled, unfortunately.
Cracks in auditorium walls are being repaired. Note that the original light fixtures and Altec surround enclosures have been removed from the walls. New-style fixtures will be installed in their place. There are no plans for a surround channel in the renovation of the main auditorium. Seats will be replaced with newer and hopefully more comfortable models in a two-aisle configuration.
Stairs to screening room; there is a separate entrance outside (far left door on the front of the theatre). The screening room area is above the theatre lobby and was formerly occupied by assorted offices. Apparently, most of the film programming in the renovated theatre will be preseneted in the 35-seat (!) screening room, which will likely have 16mm and 35mm film capability as well as video projection.
Interior of screening room. The left photo was apparently taken facing what will be the screen, and the right photo apparently shows what will be the booth area and manager's office.
Conduit for wiring, above old mens' room.
Compressed gas canister, located in original booth.
